Moscow, 1902. The famous director Konstantin Stanislavsky, in search of inspiration for staging a new play, decides to get acquainted with the life of the city "bottom". He turns to Vladimir Gilyarovsky, a recognized expert on the Moscow slums, for help. Together they go to the legendary bandit Khitrovka and find themselves embroiled in the investigation of the murder of a mysterious local resident - an Indian Sikh with a dark past.

剧情简介： 1995年格罗兹尼之战，激烈的巷战有如当年的斯大林格勒，俄车双方死伤惨重,就连美国军方也惊叹"打不起这样的城市战”。 典型的低成本影片，这是俄罗斯人自己拍的关于第一次车臣战争的电影。讲述了俄军一座野战医院惨遭车臣恐怖分子袭击的故事。摄影师用写实手法，刻意拍摄了许多以往战争题材片所未描绘过的惨烈场景。车臣雇佣军把俄军士兵的头割下来，挂在火箭弹上射向对方；俄军坦克手奉命把战友们的遗体碾碎。这里没有《Black Howk Down》里"Leave no one behind”式的宣言，只有呛人的硝烟、无限的仇恨以及苦涩的胜利。老实说，如果本片有美国大片那样的资金撑腰，绝对可以成就一番票房，至少也决不会1997的片子至今也默默无闻。可现实就是现实，虽然是模糊的画面、单调的机位、幼稚的音效以及少得可怜的特技，但这些丝毫不能阻止本片向我们展现一场血淋淋、赤裸裸，充满死亡与歇斯底里的车臣战争。这里没有攻克冬宫一样豪迈的冲锋，却有坦克碾压着战友的尸体迂回前进；没有马恩列斯光辉思想的指导，却有两个专打男人下身的变态的匪帮女狙击手……本片颠覆了太多东西，又塑造了太多东西。
Captain Fedor Volkonogov is part of the law enforcement system. He is appreciated by the commander and respected by colleagues. But the moment comes for Captain's life to take the abrupt turn - he is criminally charged. Captain manages to escape prior to the arrest turning in a split of the second into prey hunted down by ex-colleagues. At night Fedor receives the warning from the afterlife that he is destined for Hell and eternal torments. Though Captain still has a chance to change the destiny and be accepted to Heaven under condition that he repents and at least one person grants him sincere forgiveness. Fedor sets on a mission to find absolution without idea of the trials he is to face on this route.
David, a university professor, takes to social media to criticize his city’s administration. But instead of the mayor’s dodgy dealings being investigated, David is himself accused of embezzlement and placed under house arrest. Despite the overbearing surveillance, double-crossing acquaintances, and growing media interest, David remains defiant and will not apologise. With the court case drawing ever nearer, does David have any hope of winning this battle against Goliath?
