Peter is a young gay man whose father is trying to make a man of him by taking him camping. He is also a talented artist who uses drawing to escape his life and hopes to get into a prestigious art school. He is being bullied by almost everyone at school, especially the popular boy Miles, who himself is closeted and using a tough guy image and a girlfriend on his arm as his defense from being found out. Miles is having a secret affair with Jack, a very insecure young man living in constant fear of his very violent and abusive alcoholic father. When Jack and Peter each escape their living situations, a chance encounter will change their lives forever as the two set up a temporary home free of the bigotry and violence they have endured. As they become close and try to be their authentic selves, Jack can no longer take the forces that are trying to tear them apart, leading to an ending that is incredibly difficult to accept but all too often a reality for many LGBTQ+ youth.

Justine Juel Gillmer(《地球百子》《荒原》)编写剧本，基于哈夫特之子Alan Scott Haft写作的书籍《Harry Haft: Survivor Of Auschwitz, Challenger Of Rocky Marciano》，讲述一个男人在奥斯维辛集中营被迫与狱友进行残酷的角斗，胜利意味着能活着等待另一天的考验，而他击败的76名对手则走上了死亡之路。哈夫特承担了沉重的内疚之情，他尝试通过参加二战后备受瞩目的拳击大赛、与洛基·马西安诺等传奇人物比赛而重新找到活下去的理由，并希望能找到他在战争前爱上的那个女子，她激励了他在纳粹手中活下去的斗志。

八十年代，女记者卡伦（Alison Lohman 饰）正著手调查十五年前一桩酒店凶案的真相。当事人兰尼（Kevin Bacon 饰）与文斯（Colin Firth 饰）是著名搭档艺人，1972年，两人为慈善事业筹款而进行巡回演出期间，人们在他们的套房中发现了一具女尸……卡伦先后接近两人，得到了兰尼的自传手稿，兰尼声称死者莫琳因嗑药过量而溺毙，但卡伦将兰尼的生活习惯与自传两相佐证后发现疑点重重。当年兰尼与文斯事业顺利，于是黑社会邀请他们演出，某夜，校报记者莫琳同两人上床，无意中发现文斯的同性恋倾向并以此要挟。兰尼怀疑吸毒成瘾的文斯杀死莫琳，但两人在黑社会庇护下都逃避了制裁。卡伦对两人各自的陈述不置可否之际，真正的凶手却自己浮出了水面…… 本片获2006年加拿大吉尼奖最佳剧本奖。

Allen Sunshine tells the story of a former music mogul who retreats to an isolated lakeside home to grieve his famous wife’s suicide. He copes by composing ambient-electronic music and nurturing an unexpected friendship with two young boys whom he meets on the lake fishing. Throughout the course of his stages of grief, Allen encounters characters that remind him of what he’s lost and forgotten and what he hopes to gain and reconcile.
